An Update to Our U.S. Shipping Rates

When I opened Hunter Creek Crafts in 2022, I wanted shipping to be simple and fair.

For the past four years, we have kept our U.S. shipping rates the same. Orders of $50 or more shipped free, and orders under $50 shipped for a flat rate of $3.99.

During that time, shipping costs have continued to rise at an alarming rate. USPS is our primary carrier and their rates have increased significantly in the last two and a half years. In 2024 the increase was a modest 5.4%, which closely matched overall cost increases. 2025 saw a huge increase of 11.3% and so far in 2026 rates have increased 16.4%. Since each increase uses the then current rate as the base rate, the overall total rate increase is around 36.5% since 2023. We have absorbed those increases for as long as we could because we know shipping costs matter. We also know many of you plan your orders carefully, and we never want surprise costs to get in the way of your next project.

Starting July 13, 2026, we are updating our U.S. shipping rates:

Free U.S. shipping on orders $75 and over
$5.25 flat rate shipping on U.S. orders under $75

This is not a change I made lightly and I've lost several nights sleep going over all of the options. I eliminated the option of an across-the-board price increase because I personally hate being nickeled and dimed and increasing all prices felt like I was doing that to you. It would also mask exactly why prices increased. I also considered doing only one of the changes, but knowing that the USPS will likely increase rates again for the holiday shopping season, I decided it would be best to make both changes at the same time.

For our small business, shipping is now our second largest expense after inventory. Inventory is still our biggest cost because we work hard to keep quilling paper, tools, kits, books, and supplies in stock. Shipping comes next, and it has become a larger part of each order than it was when we first opened.

We have not increased our product prices or shipping prices since we opened. Keeping prices steady has been important to us, especially while many costs have gone up around us. But to keep serving customers well, we need our shipping rates to better match what it now costs to pack and ship each order.

This update helps us continue to:

• Keep a wide range of quilling supplies in stock
• Pack orders with care
• Offer a clear flat rate for smaller U.S. orders
• Continue offering free U.S. shipping at a reachable order amount
• Avoid building higher shipping costs into every product price

We know any price change can be frustrating. We truly appreciate your support and trust.
